The village of Grafton Underwood can be found in the Kettering borough of the county of Northamptonshire and is famed for being the childhood home of fictional character Bridget Jones in author Helen Fielding’s books. Grafton Underwood is a small settlement home to only approximately 200 residents, but is a lovely place to visit or stay in if you are looking to reside in a rural location and soak up the stunning countryside that surrounds the village.
There are a couple of self-catering cottages that can be rented in Grafton Underwood. This is the best way to experience the settlement with friends and family as you can feel like one of the villagers, lounging around on rainy afternoons playing board games, watching a good film in the evenings and enjoying your own home cooked food. There are also a few shops in the vicinity where you can stock up on goods for your fully-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are cosy, the views are wonderful and you may even have your own private garden in which to sunbathe during the warmer months or read a good book.
Grafton Underwood is set in a great location for exploring more of Northamptonshire, as the towns of Kettering and Corby are only 5 and 8 miles from the village, respectively. They make great day trips for if you wish to do a spot of shopping or sample the food in a local restaurant or pub.
Also close by is the Fermyn Woods Country Park, only 4 miles from Grafton Underwood. This sprawling area of woodlands, meadows and marshes can be found in the enchanting Rockingham Forest and is home to walking trails, spots for fishing and a quaint café.
