The town of Kettering is a vibrant settlement close to the River Ise in Northamptonshire and is perfect for renting self-catering accommodation for if you and your friends and family wish to see a bustling side to the county, as there is a lot to see and do here. With a wonderful town centre and a pedestrianized high street, there are countless shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs in Kettering, with a mixture of chain companies and more individual establishments. Even if you are staying in a cottage and wish to cook your own meals, you can also sample some of the local restaurants and see what else Kettering has to offer.

One of the main attractions to Kettering is Wicksteed Park, an amusement park which opened in 1921 and is the second oldest of its kind in England besides Blackgang Chine on the Isle of Wight. If you are coming to the town with children then you should definitely check out this fun and exciting place for a family day out. With a playground, fairground rides for the little ones, water-themed rides including rowing boats and a water chute, and rides for the older kids including a roller coaster and flying chairs, everyone is bound to have a fantastic day out in this wonderful park set in gorgeous grounds. There is also a lake which is home to swans, peacocks and ducks, places to purchase food and the Wicksteed Park Railway, and visiting Wicksteed Park is one of the most exciting things you can do in Kettering.

Just 5 miles out of the town centre of Kettering is the Rushton Triangular Lodge, a decorative building constructed in the late 16th century and now in the care of the English Heritage. Designed by Sir Thomas Tresham, a visit to this wonderful triangular building makes a great day trip when staying in Kettering.
