Lowick is a charming village in the heart of the English county of Northamptonshire and makes an excellent place in which to rent self-catering accommodation for a holiday with friends and family in this wonderfully rural part of the country. With only a few hundred people, a stay in Lowick will be quiet and peaceful and is perfect for if you and your loved ones wish to unwind in a new place, going for country strolls and picnics and generally rejuvenating and soaking up this lovely atmosphere.
There is a parish church in Lowick, St Peter’s Church, which dates from the late 14th or early 15th century. It is a great hub for the community and is a stunning structure. Just one mile from the village is another interesting building, Drayton House, which is an impressive 14th century country house. This Grade I listed manor house is home to a medieval great hall, a drawing room, a library and plenty of other stately rooms. It can be visited but only by special arrangement, and here you can get more information about the history of the property.
Fermyn Woods Country Park is only a 5 mile drive from Lowick and is a stunning place of natural beauty to visit with loved ones. It is found within the depths of Rockingham Forest and is home to ponds, meadows and woodlands, with free admission, spots for walking and fishing and a lovely café for a quick bite to eat. Visiting this country park makes a great day out in Northamptonshire for the whole family.
Also 5 miles away is the Oundle Marina, set on the picturesque River Nene where visitors can see the moorings of the pretty boats lined up here. There is also a fantastic Christmas Market, held each year at the marina.
Lowick is relaxing and wonderful for a self-catering cottage holiday in a quiet part of Northamptonshire, where there is still plenty to see and do.
