The sand dunes at Bembridge are covered with the bright yellow flowers of evening primrose and worth the drive to see them in such numbers.
Visit the old town in Shanklin, further south, for lunch at a thatched pub and to admire the beautiful old cottages. Take a walk through Shanklin Chine gorge down to the sea and an unspoilt beach. Ventnor, a seaside town at the very south of the island is another fabulous spot for family self-catering breaks.
