The Holiday Home: About Cossington Park Estate
Cossington Park is a superb, award winning, listed home in beautifully maintained gardens – suiting all ages and perfect for family reunions. It has been owned by one family for over 300 years and paintings, antiques, papers, photographs and 5000 books reflect our history. Totally secluded yet just a short walk from the village pub, it makes an excellent base from which to explore Exmoor, Somerset Levels, Quantocks, Glastonbury, Cheddar, Wells and the Somerset coast.
There is a Library/period Dining Room, large Drawing Room, Breakfast Room and farmhouse-style Kitchen. Outside are an extensive lawn and flower borders, ‘ha-ha’ with feature bridge, paddock, barbecue, games field, kitchen garden and walled vegetable garden. Indoor and outdoor games.
Features regularly mentioned in our guest book include the:
• extensive and peaceful gardens and grounds;
• comfortable beds and luxury linens and towels;
• generous hamper; and, above all
• uniqueness of our welcome and service in what is clearly a much-loved home
Most of the luxuriously furnished bedrooms are named after their unusual bronze doorknockers. In addition to beds for 16, (there is an extra double sofa-bed in Chaucer and two single sofa beds in Pooh Corner), we can provide a put-u-up bed and two cots. All rooms except The Pump Room and The Nursery could take an extra bed or cot. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the first floor (there is a cloakroom on the ground floor). Chaucer, The Nursery and The Trusty Servant are in the oldest part of the house; Jolly Monks, The Cobbler and The Pump Room are in the 1901 wing. The House Bathroom has a full size bath with high-level shower unit over it. From May 2015 we will have an annexe with 3 extra bedrooms and a ground floor bathroom.
NEW for 2015 - 3 extra bedrooms including a ground floor room! Sleeping in total up to 22. Plus a table tennis room for fun times with friends or family.
Cossington Park with its beautiful gardens is a lovely oasis. If you want to explore the local area, Burnham on Sea is 11 miles away, the mystical town of Glastonbury is 11 miles inland whilst for idyllic unspoilt countryside the Quantock Hills are half an hour's drive away.
