A narrow road called ‘The Beehive’ is on the northern slopes of Abberley Hill and has a few nicely spaced properties set back from the road behind hedges and backed by farmland. It’s a tranquil area, only occasionally disturbed by the rumblings of a distant tractor.

This red brick barn conversion sleeps four people. It’s a neat purpose-built barn for self-catering and stands in a group of similar cottages, each with a private fenced garden. Hot tubs tend to be popular with holidaymakers and there is a nice one in the garden that promises tons of bubbles, massaging jets and fun. A white ornate metal table and chairs for four is somewhere to eat lunch on a nice day or to chat with your friends or family.

Inside the holiday cottage is equally neat and minimalistic. There is hanging space for coats in the entrance hall which is always useful.  All rooms are decorated in neutral shades. The sitting room has a desirable log effect electric woodburner for additional warmth or simply atmosphere. Watch television from the comfort of a sofa with a recliner or just relax and plan the next day’s activities on your smartphone. The property has WiFi Internet.

The kitchen diner has a tiled floor which make it easy for dealing with muddy paws or feet. A circular wooden table and four chairs stand at one end of the room, there is a compact fitted kitchen that does nicely for a self-catering holiday. The dishwasher is usually most appreciated. It’s an all-electric kitchen, with an oven, hob and microwave for cooking. Find it equipped with a range of pots, pans, cutlery and glassware, even a cafetiere for your morning coffee.

A cloakroom with W.C. on the ground floor is there for your convenience and pretty necessary with up to four people in the cottage. The family bathroom is upstairs and is nicely presented.

In terms of bedrooms, there is a bedroom with an extra wide king-size bed and a second bedroom with twin beds. Both bedrooms are fully carpeted and feature crisp white bedlinen.

This is a smart and functional place to stay for a break. Up to two dogs are welcome. Any guests who bring their dogs will find umpteen places to walk in and around the village, including a circular trail. Explore the historic heart of the village, its medieval church, followed by a pint or two at the local hostelry. For days out to make your holiday more interesting, explore the West Midlands; Kidderminster, Tenbury Wells and Worcester. It’s about half an hour’s drive to two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty; the Malverns and Shropshire Hills, both of which offer many more walks with stunning views. Each also has some fabulous villages to wander around and admire.
