Originally a spa town, Scarborough continues to attract holidaymakers from far and wide. They come to enjoy the miles of sandy beach in the South and North Bays. South Bay is a little more commercial with plenty of amusements, pubs, restaurants, cafes, clubs, ten pin bowling, fish and chips, gift shops, and all the usual seaside attractions.
There is an esplanade for gentle strolls, and Victorian designed gardens to admire. The headland between the two bays, and the cliffs, are worth climbing up to for the lovely sea views.
Because of its location, the seaside resort of Scarborough has traditionally attracted many people from the Midlands and the north of England. The nearby Yorkshire Moors are an added bonus. Nowadays, there are various other tourist attractions to help amuse families throughout their holiday including Atlantis Water Park with slides and heated pools, Eden camp, and the Stephen Theatre that premiere's Alan Ayckbourn's plays.
