Self-catering holidays in the Channel Islands

self-catering guernsey

The Channel Islands as their name implies lie in the English Channel in between England and France. Although not classed as part of the UK, they owe allegiance to the Crown in the same way as the Isle of Man.

For many us, the Channel Islands are associated with the import of daffodils and early tomatoes to Britain because of the milder weather and earlier spring.

The writer Victor Hugo wrote wrote Les Misérables whilst in exile in the Channel Islands which has gone on to be a resounding theatrical success.

Because they’re islands, they have a strong maritime tradition and several festivals each year to celebrate it, as well as annual festivals of flowers. If you enjoy wild flowers, a trip to the Channel Islands would be a pleasure. Find beautiful unspoiled beaches, elegant shops and good quality restaurants. Several operators offer cheap flights making them ideal for long weekend breaks.

The inhabited Channel Islands are : Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, Jethou, Brecqhou (Brechou), and Lihou.
