What Snape offers for Self-Catering Breaks
Find a great choice of rural retreats and even farm-stay accommodation. Whatever the cottage you are dreaming of, we hope you find an ideal place to stay.
You may recognise the name of Snape from Harry Potter, as J. K. Rowling named the infamous character of Snape after the village, and this gorgeous settlement, home to the arts complex of Snape Maltings, is also home to friendly people and offers a relaxed atmosphere. Also at Snape is a RSPB Nature Reserve, where keen wildlife watchers can look out for avocets or may be an iridescent kingfisher.
Snape is just 5 miles from the coastal village of Aldeburgh which makes for a fantastic day trip from the village whilst on a cottage break. Aldeburgh features a lovely beach, a yacht club, plenty of cafes and restaurants and it hosts the annual Aldeburgh Festival of arts, created by Benjamin Britten in 1948. Most of the festival is actually hosted in Snape Maltings, so if you are visiting the area in June for the festival, Snape is a great place to stay. The fine coastal town of Southwold is also only 18 miles away so can be reached in around 30 minutes by car.
