Hen Night Events and Ideas
Girls want to have loads of fun on their hen night and here are a few suggestions to make your hen party swing. Rent a self catering cottage or house that can sleep all of you. Use the Cottage Search to find one large enough and with the features you might want, for example a swimming pool, hot tub, pampering treatments, or all these features at the same time. Staying in one cottage or house means that your party can be private, fun and loud if it's a secluded property, and there are plenty of these around.
Invent your own cocktails
We know that hens like to get in the party atmosphere, how about creating a cocktail party where you learn how to mix your own cocktails. Drinking them is optional. There are loads of cocktail recipes on the web to browse and download. Perhaps invent your own cocktails and name the best one in honour of the bride?
Make a public record of the Hen Night to give to the bride-to-be
Make an album of the hen weekend. Organise everyone to take photographs and ask them to send them to you to compile into a photo album. Once you have all the photographs that you wish to use in one folder on a computer, upload them using online software to automatically arrange into a photo album that you can have sen to the bride-to-be as a momento. There are always people in every group who are au-fait with Facebook and the web. Post your happenings, photographs and comments online to create a timeline of the event and build excitement.
Pamper weekends
Empliy a nail technician and beautician or masseuse to come to your holiday cottage and give everyone a special treatment starting with the bride. Do take a look the skills within your group of hens first and you may find that the group already has access to manicurists, hairdressers, masseurs and various therapists. This makes for a less expensive hen weekend and any money saved can be spent on better accommodation or more food and drink.
Be Essex girls for a weekend
It's always good to have a theme for a hen weekend and an 'Essex girl' weekend would be brilliant. Come and stay in Essex, visit the haunts of 'The only way is Essex' characters dressed in plenty of lycra and tarty clothing. The fun should find you. Take a look at self-catering cottages in Essex and see if anything springs to mind.
Get seasonal with your hen party plans
Hen weekends are made a lot easier by using various seasonal events. Historical re-enactments are held all over the country and one of the very best is at Kentwell Hall in Long Melford, Suffolk. Buy tickets for the day and take your hen group to celebrate Tudor style or with Dickens. The hundreds of volunteers who take part at Kentwell Hall remain in character and can be quite bawdy which always goes down well with hen groups. The events are hugely entertaining for any group. Take a look at the lovely olde worlde cottages in Suffolk and stay with that historical theme. You might wish to go out for a meal in the evening at a centuries old pub, perhaps one frequented by Dick Turpin the highwayman? The wedding traditional slogan of 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue' could all become very meaningful in Suffolk.
