The best arrangement is when holidaymakers have the temperature controls within the property so they can personally adjust them to suit themselves. In some circumstances, the interior temperature of the holiday cottages is controlled externally by the owner.
Guests can request the heat to be turned up but most people prefer to just be able to do it themselves.
Heating is normally included in the rental rate. Sometimes there is a charge for fuel for any supplemental heating such as logs for the wood burner.
