What Liscannor, Clare offers for Self-Catering Holidays

Liscannor is home to a wonderful and pretty harbour and is mostly used as a site for sea fishing or water sports, and during the summer, visitors can take ferry trips to see the Cliffs of Moher which are stunning and home to lots of wildlife. The harbour has an interesting history as it used to export local Liscannor Stone in return for goods such as coal. This occurred for centuries up until the mid-1960s, but today it makes a lovely and peaceful place to visit if taking a self-catering break in Liscannor.

There are numerous churches in Liscannor, all with a rich and wonderful history. One worth visiting is the Derry Church, built in the 17th century which today is just ruins, but still makes for an eerie visit. Another is the Moymore Church built in 1877, which overlooks the gorgeous bay area. The interior of Moymore Church is beautiful with stained glass windows and dark wooden beams stretching across the high ceilings.

A really fascinating place of interest in Liscannor is the Kilmacreehy Church and Graveyard which is one of the oldest ruins in County Clare, dating back to the 6th century.  The ruins are creepy and extremely interesting to visit.

Liscannor has a different atmosphere to it from a lot of other villages in Ireland due to its stunning location on the coast and its history, with lots of relics and remnants of the past scattered around. Taking a cottage break here is a great idea if you like to mix relaxing beach ambles with searching for an age long-gone.  Artists and photographers will simply adore the scenery that Liscannor has to offer everyone who visits.  Whether you choose to stay in a coastal cottage or a rural cottage in the countryside, you can be assured that with a stay in or around Liscannor you should have a relaxing time.
