Lampeter is home to a fantastic food festival each year during the month of July at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David which is located in the town and is the oldest university in Wales. With around 60 delicious stalls selling anything from cakes, honey, ice cream, pies and pasties, fresh fruit, Welsh cheeses, vegetarian Indian food and even dog treats, there is something for everyone in this brilliant festival celebrating wonderful delicacies, both local and from around the world. There are also stalls serving wine and beer, as well as numerous craft stalls selling anything from cushions, ceramics, jewellery, greeting cards and art. A visiting to the Lampeter Food Festival is a must if you happen to be in this picturesque town during a Saturday towards the end of July, and it makes a great day out and a fabulous place to purchase gifts for friends and family back at home!
This charming market town is wonderful for a relaxing cottage break, and you can choose to go fishing on the River Teifi, or just go for a stroll by this twinkling river, taking in the gorgeous backdrops of Lampeter. The university makes a great visit as it is so historical, having been founded in 1822, and the rugby team at the university was founded in 1850 and was the first team in Wales after theologian Rowland Williams brought the game back from Cambridge.
