The village of Dolgarrog is serene and peaceful and is perfect for a relaxing break in North Wales. It is close by to the walled and history town of Conwy and the Conwy River, and with a very small population of less than one thousand people, it has a wonderful close-knit feel to the community, where friendly locals smile and welcome you into their charming village.
What Dolgarrog offers for Cottage Breaks
Home to numerous quaint and individual shops and boutiques, Dolgarrog is perfect for sampling a unique and authentic taste of Wales. There are local pubs which are great for settling into for the evening, as well some incredible scenery and forestry. In fact, it is within the Snowdonia National Park with its impressive mountain scenery and home to Mount Snowdon – the tallest peak in all of Wales. Going on a day trip exploring this spectacular scenery by foot or by bike, or taking a picnic to enjoy under the trees is a fantastic idea for a wonderful day trip with family or friends.
Another great place to visit in Dolgarrog is Garden Art which opened in 2001 and is home to a vast array of architectural and unusual garden antiques set within a beautiful 10 acre site in the Snowdonia National Park. The site sells a variety of sculptures, such as stone, bronze and cast iron statues and contemporary sculptures, and there is a giant garden maze, perhaps the largest in the world, within the centre, and contains 200 roses and a Japanese Zen garden. Visiting Garden Art is a great day out for those who have an interest in flora and decorating gardens with beautiful art and sculpture, and the maze is great fun for kids!
Dolgarrog is a very small village but there is plenty to do in the surrounding areas. A great day trip from the community would be the Conwy, which is home to many sites of historical interest. This town has been walled since the 13th century, and the imposing and magnificent Conwy Castle is a fascinating piece of architecture that cannot be missed on a visit to this coastal town. It is also home to a pretty sandy beach which is great for relaxing on.
Whether you spend time exploring the incredible rural scenery that surrounds Dolgarrog in Snowdonia National Park, or whether you lap up village life by taking it easy and unwinding in peace, Dolgarrog is a great place in which to stay in North Wales.
Whether you choose to book a holiday cottage in Dolgarrog, an apartment, a lodge or another type of self-catering holiday accommodation, we hope you have your best holiday yet in Conwy.
