About Self-Catering Holidays in Llandudno Junction
The area of Llandudno is stunning with the Great Orme limestone headland which dominates the skyline. There is also Little Orme which is at the other side of Llandudno Bay and both provide a striking backdrop to this spectacular coastline. Going to the summit of Great Orme is a great way to get absolutely incredible views over the land, and on clear days even the Lake District and the Isle of Man become visible. Visitors can either walk to the summit, take the Great Orme Tramway or get the cable car to the top.
Other recommended places to visit on a self-catering break include Llandudno Pier. This pier is an attraction in itself as it is a Grade II listed structure and is said to be the longest pier in Wales. Built in 1878, the pier features a host of amusement arcades and games, fairground rides for children, a bar and a café and plenty of shops. It is a definite must-see if you happen to be in Llandudno Bay for its history and the quintessentially Welsh feel that it has.
Llandudno is home to a lovely town with an array of shops, both high street chain and independent boutiques along with cafes, restaurants and pubs. These shops are only a short walk away from Llandudno’s beaches, one of which, the North Shore, is a Blue Flag award winning beach as from 2013. The West Shore is dog friendly so if you are travelling to Llandudno with your furry friend then he or she can happily join in, splashing in the sea and snoozing on the sands. The sea here is great for swimming and you may even be able to spot Conwy Castle in the distance.
Llandudno is home to a swimming centre, a dry-slope ski and snowboarding centre and a theatre, the Venue Cymru, which hosts some brilliant plays, shows and musicals for adults and children alike. Llandudno Junction is smaller than Llandudno and great to stay in if you want to be around smaller crowds, but you will certainly not be able to resist a visit to the wonderful Llandudno and its beaches!
