Information on Cottage Holidays in Morfa Nefyn
Although Morfa Nefyn is a very beautiful part of Gwynedd, it is not overrun with tourists and remains largely undiscovered, meaning that it is perfect for those wishing to escape the crowds and experience this gorgeous area in peace and tranquillity. There are, however, a number of holiday homes and quaint cottages dotted along the beach front which are fantastic for a self-catering holiday.
The village centre of Morfa Nefyn is home to numerous shops selling things such as souvenirs and convenience goods, and there are a couple of eateries, including the all-important chip shop! There aren’t too many services in the village but the town of Nefyn is Morfa Nefyn’s neighbour and has a little more choice, and the town of Pwllheli, only a ten minute drive away, has even more choice including pubs and cafés to sample.
One of the main attractions to choosing Morfa Nefyn for a cottage holiday is its beautiful beach with golden sands which sweeps down to the lovely hamlet of Porth Dinllaen. Porth Dinllaen is most famous for its pub, the Ty Coch, which serves delicious good quality food. The car park by the cliff side is owned by the National Trust which is certainly the best place in which to park if visiting the beach and you can spend long, lazy hours on the sands, sunbathing, dipping in the waters or watching the kids building sand castles!
Those keen on golf will be pleased to know that Morfa Nefyn is home to the Nefyn and District Golf Club. Situated on the Porth Dinllaen peninsula, this golf club is one of the most idyllic settings imaginable, with three sides of the club surrounded by sweeping views of the sea. It is a wonderful place in which to come for a few rounds of the game and to really take in the spectacular scenery that surrounds you.
There are a couple of other villages close by to Morfa Nefyn, including Llanbedrog and Abersoch. These make for great day trips out from the settlement and are also located along the Llyn Peninsula. Morfa Nefyn, however, has its own charm and peacefulness and is a wonderful place for a relaxing cottage break in Gwynedd.
