Brithdir is a hamlet two miles east of the market town of Dolgellau in the south of the Snowdonia National Park.  Because of its natural beauty, this area is peppered with holiday homes of various kinds. Holidaymakers come to enjoy hikes into the hills, to climb to the top of Cadair Idris, the next tallest peak after Snowdon  from which views stretch to the sands of Fairbourne and Barmouth in Cardigan Bay and across the mountains of Snowdonia.

There is much in this part of Wales for outdoor holidays. A former railway track has been converted to a safe traffic free cycling and walking path that follows the River Afon Mawddach down to the coast.  There is just about every type of outdoor activity possible within a few miles range, try boating and fishing (river, lake and sea), mountain biking, hang gliding and kayaking.
