The Property: About Ty Camlad Barn, Shropshire Hills
As far as country cottages for couples are concerned, this charming barn conversion in Churchstoke, a hamlet between Bishop’s Castle and Montgomery is the ‘bees knees’.The accommodation features a one bedroom property that proves that the best things come in small packages. The secluded holiday barn stands in the grounds of a B&B, yet detached and private. The barn has a large cathedral window that fills the open-plan living area with light. It is amazingly spacious for just two people; sofas, coffee table, log burner and TV occupy the sitting part, a contemporary kitchen with a four oven Aga and hob takes pride of place under a vaulted and beamed ceiling. There are exposed oak beams at intervals in the cream walls. A dining table and all the appliances that one would expect in a 5 star holiday home are present.
A super king bed stands in the large airy bedroom. This can be unlinked to form twin beds if preferred. An adjoining bathroom has the novelty of a slipper bath. There is even a shower room downstairs which may be a touch superfluous for two people. A grand piano in the open-plan living area could be attractive to holidaymakers who like to tinker with the keys or romance their partner.
A patio table stands outside on the gravel in the garden, offering a place to sit and enjoy a little sunshine.
This beautiful Churchstoke holiday barn for two would be the basis of a dream holiday for any couples hoping to visit Wales. Book a table at the Michelin starred restaurant in Montgomery for a celebratory meal. Visitors booking the cottage in Churchstoke during the third week of August may find themselves caught up in the Montgomery Show and gain a unique insight into life in mid Wales.
