Self-catering holiday cottages, apartments, houses, lodges, and other accommodation for holidays in Shanklin, Isle of Wight.
Shanklin is a coastal town on the eastern coast of the Isle of Wight. It has a stretch of sandy and shingle beach. The Shanklin Chine Gorge walk is a pleasant experience that takes visitors through a narrow gorge made accessible by wooden walkways and bridges. A walk to the end takes only about 15 miles and allows visitors to see rare plants, a stream and waterfall. It is rather like walking through a lovely green garden.
The beach is at the far end of the gorge. A walk along the beach path leads past boats and beach huts. The beach is sandy, there are well maintained gardens with benches where visitors can sit and look out to sea.
Old Shanklin Village is charming in an olde worlde way. Special mention is given to Pencil Cottage which cheerfully serves up superb meals and snacks made from high quality ingredients. The garden of the coffee shop is full of curiosites that are also for sale. For lovers of Christmas, there is an all year round Christmas Shop where people can buy decorations at any time of year and look forward to the next one. A good number of thatched cottages, thatched pubs and gift shop add to the period atmosphere. The town is very well maintained and visitors will be pleased to know that there are plenty of clean conveniences.
