Close by are a number of tranquil vineyards to visit.  Crouch Ridge Vineyard is just along the road at Althorne, and is home to a superb café/restaurant with stunning river views where you can dine alfresco in the sunshine.  Also close by is Clayhill vineyard which also boasts a very good café and river views.  For some of the very best wine in Essex, head along to New Hall vineyard where you can book tasting experiences and get a real genuine rural welcome.

There are so many beautiful places to explore close by to Stow Maries.  The nearby estuary town of Maldon with its historic appeal, promenade, river views, cafes and tea shops is not to be missed.  Also well worth a visit, just 15 minutes drive away, is the superb riverside town of Burnham on Crouch with its restaurants, and cafes.  The riverside walks in Burnham stretch all the way up the coast, past the marina.  If you are a lover of beautiful gardens, don’t miss the chance to visit the expansive RHS Hyde Hall Gardens too just a short drive away.  For history buffs, the unique World War 1 airfield museum is just a short drive away also.
