Littledean has been a settlement since at least 1130AD when it was recorded in the Domesday Book. To the west, lies Littledean Hall which was originally a Saxon hall, although it has been rebuilt and the current house dates back to 1612. The remains of a Roman temple are situated in the grounds.The village itself is probably best known for the historical attraction of Littledean jail. This Grade II listed building was built in 1791 and is an unorthodox attraction which is reputed to be very haunted, definitely not for the faint hearted!
