The South Coast of England is easily recognised by its dramatic white cliffs which leads down to sand or pebbly beaches and coves. The rolling Downs which lead down to the coast are popular with walkers and many trails and paths cross the Downs to varying towns and villages.
A number of large seaside resorts on the south coast welcome visitors during the sunny months: Brighton, Eastbourne, Hastings, the small seaside town of Peacehaven, and its neighbour, unspoilt Seaford.
Other towns in East Sussex include: Alfriston, Battle, Bexhill, Crowhurst,
Heathfield and Waldron, Herstmonceux, Lewes, Pevensey Bay, Ringmer, Rye,
Uckfield, Wadhurst. Many of these have historic connections, castles, gardens or stately homes to visit.
