There are all kinds of reasons why people prefer to book holiday homes that are all on one level and preferably ground floor only. Sometimes it is because of mobility issues, other times because that is what they are used to in their own home or because they have young children just beginning to walk who may be tempted to climb stairs.

Most family-friendly holiday cottages offer guests the use of a cot and high chair. Stair gates and not employed as frequently, although they are a big safeguard when toddlers are involved. It is possible to rent places to stay that do supply stair gates but these are in the minority. View cottages with stair gates.

An attractive feature of a one storey building that has a garden is that it is usually possible to step through patio doors and directly into a garden. This feature is excellent for any family with young children because they will be able to play outdoors with minimal supervision if the garden is fully fenced.
