The Cairngorms is Scotland's second national park (the first was Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park). A large area of mountainous country with rivers lochs and glens from Granton -on-Spey to Ballater, Dalwhinnie and Drumochter came under the national park banner in 2003 and the Cairngorms National Park was born.
Walkers and wildlife enthusiasts flock to the area to enjoy eagles, herds of deer and many other wild birds and animals in their natural habitat. Pine lodges are an attractive holiday accommodation choice in this amazing wilderness area and blend well with the scenery. There are also plenty of country cottages that offer good quality places to lay your head after a day's adventures. Families may like the idea of a holiday in Aviemore which offers lots of accommodation to choose from and plenty of acitivities for all ages.
