For those that like activity there’s a new leisure club, miles of promenade, sea and fresh-water fishing and for those who own a boat, there are several very attractive places to sail to/from in the area, including Brightlingsea, Walton Backwaters, Wivenhoe and West Mersea.
You don’t have to go far to reach new and exciting areas. Colchester, the country’s oldest recorded town, with its castle, award-winning zoo, Colchester Leisure World and excellent shopping centre is a 20-minute drive.
There’s Manningtree, England’s smallest market town, with two markets a week. Just over in to the Suffolk border you’ll find Constable Country with its beautiful scenery painted by the famous landscape artist John Constable and its villages of Dedham, Flatford and Stratford St Mary famous for cream teas!
Visit Felixstowe with its working port and excellent sandy beaches. Clacton on Sea is the terminal station from London Liverpool street station.
